The Mitchel Memorial Theater

‘The Mitch’ is a funny looking building and is reminiscent of the old Pontins days with its porthole style windows and Formica tables. This little theatre was built on the foundations of the previouse building 'The Whitehouse' and was built as a fitting memorial to Reginald J Mitchell designer of the "Supermarine Spitfire, " fighter plane who sadly would never see his plane fly in combat, as he died of cancer in 1937 at the age of 42. It is the principle venue for amateur and youth theatre locally and was official opened in 1957 by Group-Captain Douglas Bader a Royal Air Force fighter ace who flew Spitfires in the Battle of Britain. The area was dominated from the early 17c by the pottery industry. The Mitch has had a history of paranormal phenomena, Employees have experienced many strange occurrences over the years.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Theater Auditorium;

• A man has been seen sitting in the middle section of the seats and standing by the safety curtain mechanism side of stage then vanishing as if walking through wall.
• A Little boy in shorts and clogs walking along the gantry above the stage, whistling.
• An employee felt as if she was being hurried through the tunnel at the back of the stage, almost pushed.
• Vanilla smells on stage.
• Children in casts have experienced brushing past someone that wasn’t there and having their hair touched whilst in the wings waiting to go on stage.

In other areas of the theatre there have been;

• Sour milk smells in Dressing Room 1.
• Several people have experienced different sensations in Dressing Room 4, i.e. being watched, hearing children singing, icy sensations even though heating was on, feeling they must leave as they were intruding, a horrible rotting smell.
• Pens and keys being moved on the desk in the office. The kettle turning itself on.
• a small lady wearing a black cloak with a cowl shaped hood was seen standing at the bottom of the stairs in the foyer.

Outside of the theatre a male was seen wearing a top hat and tails standing on the corner of the driveway by the lean-to. Oh and the famous photograph of the ghost!!!

• The Spirit of a little girl was sensed, Squeaking sounds emanated from the seated area, Mary Blackeman's seat had come down in the main Auditorium.

CONCLUSION

All in all it was a very quiet (but a typical one)nights investigation. The staff and players of the theatre obviously feel there is something unusual happening in the theater. Activity is more prevalent when productions are in full flow. It was very strange that Mary's seat came down, and when investigated our team found that when we moved one of the seats downwards it made the 'squeaking' sound we heard earlier in the evening? DR4 which is one of the rooms that most people reported feeling 'frightened' in, had NO activity or experiences from our team. The room had been checked for EMF and hidden cables so there were no concealed wiring (except the plugs of course).

We recorded 2 EVPs, 1- feint whispers in the auditorium, 2 - a response to a question recorded in the corridor adjacent to DR4.

In conclusion at this point in time there was nothing that could not have been explained by natural means.

AND FINALLY there is the 'Ghost photograph' seen here on the right. Yes on first observation itDOES look like there is a face in the background, but on very close inspection it is just the patterns made from the background and doorway.

The theatre is undergoing major renovations over the next 2 years, so we shall be asking the staff to note down any further phenomena with a view to another investigation.

Dane Mill

Its been a difficult task uncovering the history of Dane Mill. Very little information exists. As you are aware Congleton itself was ‘Silk Mill Central’, having a large number of Mills in and around the town, so this may account for the lack of information available, there may have been just too many to document. The Mill dates from the early 19thc but two other mills were known as Dane Mill in this area, these were Slates Dane Mill, Dane Bridge Mill. These mills are thought to have been demolished between 1830 and 1845. Weirs were originaly installed to feed the water wheel for the mills textile production, but today, there remains no evidence of this. During WW2, Dutch troupes converted the mill to barracks for the American influx of troupes for their training.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• A mans suicide, but where? There are two different versions of this story that exist of a male worker who hung himself around 50 years ago (early 1960’s). It has been reported that he took his own life: (i) By throwing himself into the lift shaft. (ii) In the Boiler house located in the central courtyard at the rear of the mill.(This was next to the chimney stack, now demolished).
  
• Children - A small shadow has been seen under a chair in the Dragoon office (Area 1 on plan). It is thought to be a small boy.
  
• The ghost of a young girl has been seen staring out of a window on the top floor of the corner edge of the building over looking the courtyard at the rear of the building.
  
• The ghost of a small boy has also been seen in the same area.
  
• A Ghostly Woman – A full body apparition has been seen sitting on a chair in the Dragoon office. She is dressed in a shawl and long skirt, and has also been seen walking down the top floor corridor.
  
• A Torso - The upper torso of a person has been seen descending the stairs at the rear of the building, but know one could tell if this was male or female.
  
• Dirty Harry? -Women (in particular) have felt the presence of a man following them whilst climbing the staircase leading from the entrance to the building. He not only follows them, but is quite partial to pinching their derière.

Personal Experiences

1: Beeping was heard from the voice recorder in office, a strong tingling sensation when stood in doorway connecting main office, buzzing/beeping 3 times but the source could not be located.

2: Music could be heard (although unrecognisable), cold spots, humming, a light banging, a shadow in the corridor, the movement sensor was triggered at the same time.

3: A glowing blue light on/by the stair case, music could be heard, feelings of unease, depression, heaviness, and a tightness around the throat, shortness of breath, A voice called out ‘Help Me’ and cold spots. (Photo 2)

4: Again yet more music could be heard, cold spots, two team members had a feeling of being followed up the stair case and could hear footsteps behind them.

5: More music, a clicking noise and a bump on the door could be clearly heard emanating from the
engineering room. (photo 3)

Conclusion

Having gone through all the evidence our team think that there is certainly a strong possibility that Dane Mill has paranormal activity. We had a great night’s investigation in a wonderful building and thanks to the inactivity of ’Harry’, all the ladies went home with their dignity left intact. On the night the sun had a sunspot emmerging form its surface, this could have had an effect on the earths geo-magnetic field. The space weather for that eve was quite active too.
A more extensive report has been issued to the team. We have suggested they keep a diary of any further experiences they have in the view to evaluating the paranormal phenomena further and performing a second vigil at a later date.

UPDATE 6TH JANUARY 2009
Dragoon staff have reported that 'Dirty Harry' is still up to his old trick following people up and down the staircase.

One team member went to open the door to the main office and felt something pass through her legs. All of teh Dragoon team were present when it happened, but none of them actually saw anything!

Morecambe Winter Gardens

The Winter Gardens has a wonderful history. Many famous Actors, Comedians (Laurel and Hardy) graced it stage. The theater fell into decline and finally closed its doors in 1977. Since the MOST HAUNTED visit the theatre has become very popular for Ghost Hunts and is bringing a regular revenue for the theatre restoration fund.

Personal Experinces:

At one point late into the morning I was last to descend the staircase leading from the Gods down to the Circle balcony. Half way down, there was a very loud bang. I actually thought something had fell out of my rucksack and turned to look, but all was clear. The whole of the stairs was checked and there we found nothing. The bang sounded like a very heavy object had dropped. All the group present tried in vane to re-create the sound but to no avail.

The group were all present when individual seats in the Gods came down of their own accord (I did check how easy this was to do manually and the seats were quite stiff to pull down). All the seats were checked before hand. This happened 3 times. Jacqui (please view her detailed report on her experience) had a very alarming experience in the cellar area. Before I give you an overview of this I would like to state that I have know Jacqui for 8 years now and can say that she is a very honest down to earth person, and I believe what happened to her to be genuine.

NOW down to details. Our group plus the medium were in the cellar (part of this is flooded). The story goes that it is believed that a previous TV programme who ventured into this area opened a portal which allowed all and sundry to enter into the space. An Entity was said to live in the cellar and trap unfortunate souls who pass through the portal.

A circle was formed which included Jacqui and the Medium, John. Those left stood close to them. People reported cold draughts (I have to say I thought they were coming form the open drains), swirling blue mists in the centre of the circle (I could not see this) and some felt they were aware of the Entity and of a spirit of a small child.

Jacqui started to shake uncontrollably and gripped the hands of her companions to such a degree that she was hurting them, she stared to sob. John came in and held Jaquie hands. He came to the conclusion that a spirit was seeking refuge in the circle and wanted to be released through Jacquie... which was done. At which point Jacqui collapsed, sobbing. She was then helped out of the cellar to recover.

The Circle reformed on John's request, where the said Entity spoke through him briefly and said "Get the fxxxk out" nothing else transpired and as the team was leaving the cellar, Gill took a little paddle through to the other flooded rooms much to some peoples dismay.... of course, nothing happened to her.

During the start of the session I could clearly hear what sounded like the tinkling of metal, this was recorded on the Digital Recorded. This sound stopped when Jacqui had supposedly released the spirit. There was also a strange sound of what sounded like a man wretching in the background.

Conclusions

A great place that I want the team to return to at some point. The night was extremely quiet for such a reportedly haunted location, and apart from the seats, the loud bang and Jack's ordeal nothing else happened.

Did Jacqui channel the spirit of a trapped boy? I can only say that I feel Jacquie may have! We can only go by our own experiences, and I trust her to be genuine.

The Star, Acton by Nantwich

The Star has a very colourful history attached to it. This Inn dates back to either the late 16th century or early 17th century. Its earlier name was The Stirrup Cup or House. I do have a list of some of the old landlords of The Star but not from its earlier name. This old coaching inn still has the mounting block outside and although it has been extended and altered over the years, it’s still true to a very fine country inn. It was reported that Lord Byron's head of command gathered here the evening before the legendary Battle of Nantwich.

REPORTED ACTIVITY: 2007

• Lady in white who walks through the original part of the bar.
• A sinister presence on the 2nd floor, dark shadows, doors opening on their own.
• a man died in the bar area.
• Male presence in the bar area (it is thought it is an old landlord).

2008

• Present landlord Jim, cellar light turned on when he was in the cellar, the door from the bar was locked and know one else was with him.
  
• Liz (Landlady) experienced 'something' pass
  behind her which blocked the bar light off.
  
• Gill (SA team member) took the following photo in the dining room when interviewing Jim. This was also very close to where Liz had her experience.


• June 1st - Jim reported that one of the pumps in the cellar had been turned off. He commented that he NEVER turns the pumps off at any time. On inspection by us the switch was not loose and could not have been accidentally knocked off.

• Dowsing- Layline passes through the corner if the property, and possible portal/vortex.
• Cold spots (althought there was a skylight above us that could rule of this.
• Extensive 'spirit light' activity.

Conclusion:
Upper floor accommodation - During the early evening walk round, Steve and Jacquie reported that as soon as they turned into the corridor, there was a strong feeling of something/one in the corridor. When they dowsed the area, that feeling remained so we were certain we would see or hear something during our vigils.

Also on dowsing the upper floor, it revealed a lay line cutting across the corner of the property emitting from the far right room (front of property). And a high energy field was located close to the bathroom. When we moved upstairs for the later vigil, the corridor that had originally felt foreboding, now felt calm, and noting was recorded here.

Ground floor bar areas - The main bar felt peaceful and quiet. It was all together different when we moved to the adjacent front bar and rear room. Immediately, the room felt busy, like a party atmosphere, or as you would expect a busy bustling pub.

EVP’s were also recorded in here and all people reported a moving dark shadow that seamed to circle the table. Kath witnessed a partial apparition at the bar mainly head and shoulders of a man standing, leaning against the bar with a flat cap. moustache and white shirt.

Cold blasts were felt at the rear bar vigil but on inspection a skylight was located and so this could rule out the feeling of cold air.

We are certain the Star DOES have paranormal activity, and think a second visit would be worth while.

The Ye Olde Vaults, Nantwich

Crewe Heritage Centre

The museum is located at the rear of a the Tesco superstore, in the old LMS railway yard for Crewe Railway Station.

It was originally named 'The Railway Age' and on its initial opening was a great success for the town. Unfortunately the centre fell into decline until new management was installed in late November 2007.

The museum is now undergoing extensive renovations.

It has three signal boxes. The largest being the North Signal Box (see photo right).

The main exhibit of the museum is the BR Class 370 APT now undergoing restoration and upgrading. The main exhibition hall features many trains, carriages and exhibits, including the exhibition of a LNWR Travelling post office (TPO) coach and assorted Royal Mail Exhibits . The investigation was an initial recce for a possible future charity event.

Conclusion
Our team felt that there maybe 2 areas of paranormal interest. We agreed that another recce vigil should performed in order to substantiate a definite paranormal activity is present before giving the thumbs up for a charity event. All the incidents experienced could be rationalised.

The Leopard, Burslem

This was once known as The Savoy of the midlands. It is over 300 years old. The building started life about 1640 when some cottages were knocked together. Helen Wedgewood took the building over in 1740. She turned it into a hotel and public house. The pub was bought in 1872 by James Norris when the building was in decline. He renovated the building and an extension was added in the early `1900’s. Another 57 bedrooms were added, so that made 102 rooms over 6 floors.This ex Grand Hotel now has derelict rooms, 58 bedrooms have just been reopened after being sealed up between 1931 and the 1950’s. Tunnels have been found in the cellar.

Conclusion

This was an organised event. We deffinately felt that the location warranted another visit and that the location had paranormal activity.

The Knights Grange, Winsford

The Grange appears under this name for the first time in 1325/6 as the Grange of Knytes. These were young men working on the farm. They were labourers rather than scholars and they had not taken there full vows.
Lady Mary Cholmondeley (1563-1625) bought the property and she built the brick mansion you see today. The old farmhouse is now a fully licensed public house and what is left of the out buildings form a sports centre.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• Ida (a nun) has been seen sitting on a chair by the front door.
• After closing time the landord has heard tables and chairs moving downstairs across the stone floor .
• A woman has been seenon the first floor of the building.
• Shadows have been seen in variouse parts of the building.
• A customer’s dog (early 2007) would not stop growling at the fireplace in the lounge.
• Pool balls move on their own.

A figure standing by the patio doors located in area 1 . This figure was described as a hooded cloaked figure and their cape was flowing as if the wind had caught it. Kath checked out the are and nothing was found. When she returnd to her location (in the pool room) the figure could be clearly see again.

Conclusion

With the exception of the above nothing conclusive was found here.

The Gym, Winsford

It is believed to have been first built in the 1780’s, but the plaque shows that most of this building dates from 1822. This chapel was became a Sunday school in the 1870’s – 1890’s and a new extension was added. The corridor was added in the 1990’s and it was converted into a gym in 2002.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• Objects move around.
• Power would turn off.
• Shadows have been seen on the stairs leading to the first floor flat, bottom of
  the stairs leading to the first floor gym and by the large weight machine.
• Smell of fire and wet dog in the middle room by the large mirrors.
• The hatch door leading to the attic opens.
• Feeling of being watched from the stairs leading to the first floor flat
• Jason (the owner) was pinned to his bed in the flat.
• The threadmills switch on as if some one is standing on them. They also show.
• A heartrate. This can only happen if you hold the silver handles.

CASE REPORT: STARTED 10PM - FINISH 4AM

Evidence collected

• Movement was seen on the stairs going up to the first floor room, a bang was heard shortly afterwards and was recorded on the Digital recorder.
• Digital recorders wrere turning on and off.
• Other loud bangs.
• Cold spots on stairs going up to living quarters.
• Gill felt cold breath on her face when we were having a conversation about a minister who worked here.

Conclusion
Very disappointing after such a good start, but we think if the owner had stayed, more things would have happened. The activity (if you wish to call it that) seemed to happen around him. Very enjoyable night and a second visit is in the pipeline.

Denbigh Asylum

This is are FIRST rece of the Asylum, and what a location. We were all just in awe of the place. What initialy struck us was how peacfull the site was, dormant and sleepy. Hands on hearts yes we were a little frightend going into the site lets face it who woudnt be this typifies what a haunted building should look like. BUT we put our fear aside and gingerly made out way into the estate. Unfortunately the estate is in a terribly delapodated condition (Hard Hats and First Aid kits were taken with us) and that was very sad to see. This building is truely baeutiful even in its now poor state and needs to be saved NOW. Although we moved freely around the site on the exterior we did not have time to venrture further. More security had been put inplace with regards to barracades but it was clear to see that people had gained access through these.

If you are reading this and want to visit the site be WARNED it is VERY VERY DANGEROUSE and you do so at your own risk. We will not disclose how to get onto the site either (its a secret). Denbigh Asylums Future - Knowone seams to know what is happening with the building. It should have been demolished last year to be replaced by...... a housing estate, now you tell me is that RIGHT? This was the reason for going in the first place to see her in her glory before she dissappears forever, Its not dissimilar to Titanics future in a way. It has been heard that someone has bought it for a million?

The Chapel - External it is intact, the interior unfortunately has been desecrated only the roof remians in its original state.



The Morge - was easily accessable but again the main slab has been vandelised. We were amazed how small it was too considering the amount of patients the Asylum must have housed. Only enough room to put 6 bodies in the freezer. Many felt that someone had toughed her when we were taking photos outside the Morgue.

On then to theTreatment Centre located behind
the Morge. We ALL heard a mans voice here
Mandy heard the name Margaret, but there
were not other persons on the site.

The Sweatnham Arms

The Swettenham Arms dates from the 16th century and was once a nunnery. It was used as a resting place for weary funeral parties to stay overnight. The coffin would stay in the Inn overnight and the next day, it would be taken to the churchyard via an underground tunnel.This tunnel was blocked up many years ago because of the foul air.

• Sarah is the reported ghost. She is 35 years old, black hair and looks sad. She is said to be a nun.

Stanley Palace, Chester

Stanley Palace is a 16th Century Grade II listed building located in Chester. Formerly called Derby House, it stands on, or near, the site previously occupied by the Dominican Friars (The 'Black Friars') in medieval times. In the second world war Stanley Palace was a place of recreation for the armed forces that were stationed in Chester. a second world war army officer was in command of the entertainment.

REPORTED EVIDENCE

• Low murmurings have been heard together with illogical happenings.
• Elizabeth, Sir Peter Warburton's daughter died in her Black Friers home in 1627. On two occasions her presence has been observed.
• A lady attending a social function at StanleyPalace noticed a man dressed in a fashion to that worn by servants in the 17th century, pass her in the foyer and enter the Queen Anne room.
  Over the years footsteps have been heard in the Gallery
• A girl was frightened by an old man with a walking stick,who swore at children and gave chase waving his stick.
• Upstairs by the staircase entrance to the Gallery, one paranormal group a noticed figure of a gentleman, dressed in the uniform.
• At the far end of the Gallery a grey haired lady has been seen playing the piano and seamed to have a preference for Brahms.
• A King Charles spaniel.
• The Upper floors were suppose to be haunted by children.

Conclusion

It is good to attend organised events (if they are cheap enough and not a rip off) just to see how other people conduct investigations, organise the evenings events, look at the equipment they use and chat to like minded people. Unfortunately in this case we felt that there was a LOT of suggestion being put to the 'punters'. There was suppose to be a very angry entity that haunted the main staircase, a lot of hype was attached to this to the extent that some people were getting hysterical. There was in fact nothing on the staircase, but i suppose they may feel people won't get their moneys worth if they don't go away with some sort of fear factor. I also felt the venue was far too Small for a large group of people (in this case about 30).

Doncaster Air Museum

This was The site of the former RAF Doncaster. The main part of the site has been developed into a leisure and housing, but the north western corner is home to the Aeroventure. The airfield was a pre-war civil airfield which was commandeered by the RAF at the outbreak of WW2. Its most well known inhabitant was 271 squadron. The airfield also became associated with Dakotas and many of these were repaired at the airfield during the war.The museum has a large collection of aircraft and helicopter (non from WW2). It also displays WW2 uniforms and artifacts and photographs of the site history.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• Ghostly footsteps, strange low whispers and the laughter of children.
• A specific aircraft (from the Falklands war) that has an unpleasant feeling about, the story goes that it is the pilot of this craft who does not like people in/around the aircraft.
• The Mess Hall corridor, at the end there is a book. This book has its pages turned over but 'something' always turns to a certain page.

• The Fast Response building. Originally it had four bedrooms for Pilate's. The planes were located immediately outside. It was used in the 1970's - 80's during part of the cold war

What a fabulous location to investigate. Our team genuinly felt that the museum is haunted.

The Boot and Slipper, Wettenhall

This is a black and white 17th century building. It has now been extended. It was first know as The Boot and Slipper but was changed to The Royal Oak during the late 1870’s to 1880’s. It was then changed back to The Boot and Slipper. Before the extension, part of the pub was a house. Ray, an ex landlord use to live in the house while working in the pub with his family.

REPORTED EVIDENCE

• 2 men have been seen in the pub, both are thought to be ex landlords.
• Cellar doors slams shut.
• Doors open and close, staff names are called out. Noises heard in main bar early in the morning, when owner investigated, the empties bin had been moved and a bottle of scotch smashed on the floor.
• Staff have seen a man sitting in the corner of the bar area.

CASE REPORT: START 10PM - FINISH 4AM

Evidence collected:

• Audibles 'murmuring'.
• Door leading to the new dinning room locked itself.
• EMF reading very high in the archway in the main bar.
• Shuffling noises in the cellar.
• Rapping's in the cellar.

Conclusion

Although witnesses have reported a large amount sighting in this pub, but although we experienced small amounts of activity we cant categorically say that the pub is haunted.

Bell 'O' The Hill, Tushingam

This black and white Coaching Inn dates back (in part) from the 14th century.It lies near the highway that in 1668, the Harrison Gang (who were also highwaymen) used when they stole horses. A previous landlord had a pet duck and there is a vary famouse story which surrounds the ducks demise.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• The ghost of a Cavalier and the pet duck have been reported.
• Also the feeling of being watched.
• Battery powered Christmas decorations have a life of their own.

• Audibles, 'Hello' and 'Growl' both a male.
• Batteries lost power

Conclusion

Once again a fantastic location, but we did not experience anything we could call 'Paranormal'

The White Lion, Barthomeley

The Inn dates from 1614. Prior to the 19th century this building was used as an office for John Crewe to collect rents and by clerk’s for the parish it was sometimes referred to as the Clerk’s Cottage. Across the road towards the Church steps there was also another Inn called The Punchbowl but this was demolished 1867. Inside the churchyard was also a school. The church was the site of a famous BARTHOMELY MASSACARE. On Christmas Day 1643 Royalists surrounded the church in the village, which was occupied by at least 12 Parliamentarians. The Cavalier soldiers set the building alight then stabbed or slit the throats as they ran out.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• Figures have been seen in and outside of the building.
• Objects move.
• Doors slam shut.
• Rapping's on the font door.
• A large dog is said to haunt the lane close to the village hall (the old rectory drive)
• A woman in white walks the church field.
• Randle of Crewe is said to walk the third floor of the rectory until it was demolished.

Conclusion

This is without a doubt an outstanding building, a great pub which has a fabulous history attached to it. Unfortunately on this occasion we did not experience anything 'paranormal'.

The Raven, Darnhall Nr Winsford

Located between Winsford and Church Minshall the pub was once a gamekeeper's lodge.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

It is reported to have at least 8 ghosts, but the 2 who are most seen are both male and both called strangely enough ...TOM.

Old Tom haunts the main bar area and has been see sitting in a chair my the fireplace.

• And then there is Young Tom who is a teenage boy who died in the stairs accending to the accomodation floor.

• main bar areas
• Function room at rear of property.

Conclusion:
Most of the evening did not pruduce any activity whatsover. THEN the team decided to do one more session in the main bar which produced polterguise activity. The team positioned themselves at at able close to thefireplace. On calling out, the oweners dog started to bark frantically in the location of the door which gave access to the stairs. Something flew the air and hit the fireplace. On close inspection it was found to be a George v old penny dated 1926 (see image below).

The Brighton Bell, Winsford

This pub was originally called the Railway Hotel but the property started its life as a farm. This location was the scene of a train crash in April 1948. A soldier realised that the train was not stopping at his designated stop, he pulled the communication cord, slowed the train down and jumped off. Meanwhile the City of Notingham locomotive was fast approaching and collided with the train. many injured passengers were given shelter in the pub and homes close by.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff have reported the feeling of being watched.
Glasses have moved across the bar on their own.

Evidence collected:

• Chair fell off a bench.
• Audible 'a growl' and a 'sigh'.
• Rattling of bottles behind the bar.
• Shadows seen along the bar wall.
• Corridor to the kitchen had a negative feeling to it.

Conclusion:

Considering the pub had been witness to this terrible train accident we did expect to get a little more activity Some of the finding could be accounted for natural phenomena.

The Plumbers Arms, Chester

This very small pub is tucked away in a little side street close to the Roman Amphitheatre. It was known for some years as Fagin's.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• A phantom of a woman has been seen to float through the wall in the upper front bedroom.
• Noises in the main bar area.

Evidence collected

• 1 or 2 orb photos.

Conclusion
A very quiet night in all. No conclusive evidence that the pub was haunted.

The 3 lamps, Crewe

The Three Lamps used to be a hotel and backs onto the Crewe Lyceum Theatre which was built in 1882. Originally there stood a Roman Catholic church which was built for the Irish immigrant who came to Crewe for the building of the railway network. The graveyard for the church was located at the side of The theatre and an original gravestone from this was found in the cellar. Many actors and audience members used to drink in the pub after a show. Unfortunately we do not have an exact date the pub was built, but it is located on the OS maps in 1756.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

• A Monk has been heard chanting while walking through a wall where a door used to be, which backs onto the Theatre.
  
• the Landlord has been awoken to the sound of loud banging noises in the bar area.
  
• A barrel moved on its own in the cellar.
  
• The kettle boils dry and the microwave door opens in the kitchen.
  
• Other staff members have also had experiences.
  
• The landlady’s handbag disappeared and reappeared in the kitchen hanging next to the fly zapper in the kitchen.
  
• Other items disappear or move around.
  
• A shadow has been seen in the cellar.

Light anomolies

Team member called out for entitiy to do something for us..... the gas cylender then expired (it was half full and totally emptied) in the celalrs middle room, now this could only happen if someone was pulling a pint upstairs (no one was there).

Cellar door bangs shut (door is built form solid oak and is very heavy).

Conclusion

We have performed 3 investigations to date at the 3 Lamps and there seems to be an unresfull entity there. Maybe this could be due to the fact that the pub has a very high turnover of landlords and this is having a negative effect on the property?

Update

15th September 2008 - Pub has now re-opend and has been re-named "Oscars". SA are planning a visit very soon.

26 June 2008 - Pub is now closed again, this will have been the 4the time in 2 years.
